About Swami Prakashananda

A young seeker from Trinidad met Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda during Chinmaya Mission's Jnana Yajna at a university in Toronto. He eagerly approached Gurudev to join the Mission and, in 1991, traveled to  Mumbai, India to study the scriptures before taking the vows of a brahmachari. Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda initiated Premji into sannyasa as Swami Prakashananda on Mahashivaratri, in 2005.

CM Trinidad has grown in leaps and bounds, enhanced by Swamiji's devotion, tireless dynamism, humility, and selfless service.

"On A Quest": New York Screening

Chinmaya Mission New York

Hari Om,

It is with immense honor and privilege that Chinmaya Mission New York hosts the screening of the biopic film of our beloved Pujya Gurudev – Swami Chinmayananda.

The film is a wonderful tribute to the life and vision of Gurudev who has uplifted, inspired and transformed the lives of millions. We are very happy to be screening it in the New York for the first time on Saturday May 2nd from 3pm - 6pm at Bombay Theatre, Flushing.

Swami Chinmayananda is one of the world’s most renowned and revered exponents of Vedanta, the foundation of Hindu religion and culture. His life is a story of an unconventional seeker – a mischievous child, a rebellious youth, a revolutionary freedom fighter, a witty journalist and even a daring atheist. Who was he before he became the great Swami Chinmayananda? How did this passionate, witty, outspoken freedom fighter and atheist turn into an enlightened master?

The first ever film 'On a Quest' on the life of Swami Chinmayananda answers all these questions and gives us insight into the making of a master who inspired millions across the globe in his life time and even now!

Just as Pujya Gurudev brought Knowledge to the masses, let us spread his glorious life through this medium of dramatic art. This indeed is a wonderful dedication to Pujya Gurudev to mark the occasion of his birth centenary.

This is a one-time screening so please buy your tickets before they get sold out!
